3 part review of Sony NXCAM Camcorder - HXR-NX3 for professional and corporate video production use.
The more you think about Sony's new NXCAM Camcorder, the HXR-NX3, (released in January 2014), the more you realise it has 3 great parts. The Front, The Middle, and The Back. We doubt if that's why Sony used the number 3 in the product code!
1) The Front
The inclusion of a Sony G Lens with a X20 optical zoom range, starting with a 28.8mm angle of view at the wide end, will give you good coverage for almost every application. Add to this a newly developed X40 digital zoom taking you up to 1152mm, and you are there. Image processing is enhanced with several new distortion correction features.
2) The Middle
The HXR-NX3 has Sony's Exmor 3CMOS Sensor technology with three 1/2.8" sensors recording 1920 x 1080. It records in AVCHD 2.0 (50P) format with frame rate up to 60 fps. Proven technology and great pictures.
3) The Back
HDMI output - uncompressed 8bit 4:2:2 - for monitoring. WiFi connection allows you to remotely control the camera from your smartphone or tablet - functions include display, stop / start, zoom, iris, and auto focus.
