Last week Canon announced the launch of its new XA30 and XA35 HD camcorders.

Adding to the manufacturer’s X-series range, the two new models feature a newly-developed 1/2.84-type 2.91 megapixel HD CMOS pro sensor resulting in high sensitivity and improved low-light performance.

According to Canon the XA30 and XA35 are “suitable for shooting everything from news and documentaries to weddings and corporate films.”

Furthermore, the 20x zoom wide-angle lens according to Canon, features an eight blade circular aperture to give enhanced bokeh.

It also offers a 26.8–576mm (35mm equivalent) focal range and employs Canon’s intelligent 5-axis Optical Image Stabilization System with Dynamic IS.

Both XA camcorders are dual-band Wi-Fi enabled which allows for remote control of the camera, plus wireless file transfer.

The XA30 and XA35, which is equipped with an HC/SD-SDI terminal, will be available from the Prokit website from the end of December.
