Last week Prokit hosted a very ‘creative’ open day at our Chiswick based showroom.

It was one of our best-attended events to date, for good reason – it was more creative then ever and offered an array of activities for attendees to get involved in.

Filmmakers got the chance to get to grips with a whole host of new and noteworthy products including: the new C300 Mark II itself, plus the novel XC10 ‘hybrid camcorder.11885350_10153528121924699_3220237567126763071_n-2

Moreover, various Canon Cine Lenses and a Canon DP-V3010 30” 4K monitor were all on display for delegates to use and learn about.

Canon's leading product specialist, Sam Smith, demonstrated the benefits of the upcoming EOS camera, and gave away a few of its secrets.

Emphasising our ‘creative’ theme, live body painting was on display thanks to talented hair and make-up artist, and body painter Sarah Ashleigh, of London Body Painting Co.

Sarah painted a free-hand design onto a human body to accompany our ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ theme. The idea was to give attendees the chance to shoot a moving subject showcasing the C300 Mark II’s ability to capture skin tones and colours.

Furthermore, Nick Shaw from Antler Post was on hand to help keen editors get the most out of C-Log as he offered hourly workshops on working with Canon Log Gamma with the DaVinci Resolve 12.

Nick’s experience in post gives him valuable insight into the issues involved in data-driven workflows, taking footage securely and seamlessly from set to post. Nick’s Odyssey Vectorscope device received a number of positive comments.

The C300 Mark II can record high bitrate 4K files internally to dual CFast 2.0 media, while simultaneously recording 4K RAW files to an external recorder, offering the flexibility and universal appeal for production at the highest quality available today.

Additionally, the ability to record 2K/Full HD Proxy files to an internal SD card, at the same time, further streamlines the production workflow process.

Our Open Day wouldn’t have happened without the help of CirroLite who provided us with a whole host of lighting products and accessories.

Dedolight’s Panaura/Octodome 5 came in very useful to help light Sarah’s workstation and to really draw out the colours of the body paint. Kinoflo’s Celeb 400 LED light was also in action throughout the day.

Accessories to accompany the impressive Canon C300 Mark II set-up on display during the day included HawkWoods’ VL-C302 V-Lok power distribution box and Miller Tripods' ARROW 40 and CINELINE 70 tripods.

We also got the chance to offer filmmakers attending the open day the opportunity to try out Dutch based company, Prosup’s newest heavy-duty slider. Furthermore, Arri's PCA broadcast rig which has been specifically designed for the C300, was also used throughout the day to accompany the set-up.

Check out the video below of just some of the highlights from the day.
