Broadcast Production Equipment users will not be surprised to learn that new equipment supplies from Japanese manufacturers will be adversely affected for the foreseeable future following the tragic earthquake and tsunami. Component manufacturers in the north of country have been particularly affected, leading to a consequential shortage for many of the leading names including Sony. Delegates from Prokit at April's NAB trade exhibition in Las Vegas learnt that lens and tape production has been severly damaged.
Many attendees offered their sympathies and support, and promised to be patient while the country got back on its feet.
Some dealers in the UK, so we were told, expressed frustration and even anger at the delay in supply.
What do you think? Should we be patient and understanding, or jump up and down?
