Lighting big for the small screen
24th November 2015
Last week Prokit hosted an interactive lighting workshop with photographer and filmmaker, Jim Marks at our Chiswick-based showroom.
Lighting Big For The Small Screen, saw Jim highlight the reasons why he believes lighting is so important on set. During the event he said: “The only thing that really separates you from your competitors in the industry is lighting."
Jim explained that due to recent developments like YouTube, and the feasibility of shooting content via an iPhone, good quality lighting is more important than ever.
Using a variety of industry standard lighting and a range of camera equipment – which included the new Canon C300 Mark II – Jim demonstrated how to light “big for the small screen.”
Jim discussed his experiences on set and how he overcomes them on a daily basis. He demonstrated how to get the most of equipment such as Westcott’s Ice Light, the Area 48 Soft LED Kit by BBS, Zylight’s F8 LED, plus Mathews’ Road Rags Kit.
Green Kit provided much of the lighting equipment used during our lighting workshop, which included Arri’s M18 Lamp Head.
