MILLER have announced that they are a key supporter of the new  ‘My RØDE Reel’  International Short Film Competition in conjunction with RØDE Microphones. The competition was conceived to nurture emerging, independent filmmakers and give them the opportunity to share in more than US$70,000 in prizes including newly released AIR tripod systems from Miller.

Prokit is a key dealer for Miller, the new Miller Air, and RØDE Microphones.

Running from March until June 2014, the aim of the ‘My RØDE Reel’ contest is to encourage filmmakers from all walks of life to get out in the field, creating films and continually improve their craft.

Entrants to ‘My RØDE Reel’ are required to create a short film of five minutes or less, as well as a behind-the-scenes reel that features a RØDE microphone being used during the production of the film. An entry pack, available now by registering at www.myrodereel.com, steps through the process and provides templates for scripting, storyboarding and more.

RØDE, in conjunction with Miller, has brought together a respected judging panel for ‘My RØDE Reel’ that includes such inspirational filmmakers as Philip Bloom, FilmRiot host Ryan Connolly and Devin Graham, best known from his high-adrenalin YouTube channel Devin SuperTramp.

“Film competitions are fantastic ways to encourage people to push their creativity in ways they don't normally.” commented Philip Bloom. “The My RØDE Reel competition will not only do that with its high profile, but help the filmmakers with terrific exposure! I can't wait to see what people come up with!”

“We’re incredibly excited to be partnering with Miller Camera Support for this global film competition.” remarked Scott Emerton, RØDE’s Global Marketing Manager. “It’s important to us that we only work with the very best companies and it goes without saying that Miller is the best in the world at what it does. Together we’re aiming to challenge the creativity of filmmakers worldwide, and reward the very best with some incredible prizes.”

"In its 60th anniversary year, Miller is delighted to partner with another Australian icon, of such calibre as RØDE to nurture and support new comers to the industry" commented Charles Montesin, Miller Global Marketing and Sales Manager. "Miller's DNA stems from working with the film and television industry when Eric Miller, invented the original fluid head in 1946, simply to make it easier to shoot better film footage, not knowing at the time, that his legacy would emanate into the great company Miller is today, 60 years on. Miller is a great example of turning an idea into a great success. The ‘My RØDE Reel’ contest provides upstart film makers to turn their ideas into a success and get them started on a lifetime journey."

To help aspiring filmmakers with their entries, the ‘My RØDE Reel’ website will be releasing an educational series of tips & tricks videos. Hosted by Ryan Connolly and Olivia Speranza, the course guides viewers through the filmmaking process from pre-production through to shooting and on to post-production and distribution.

Entries for ‘My RØDE Reel’ are open from March 1st and close May 31st. As an early bird bonus, all entries accepted during March will receive a free copy of RedGiant’s PluralEyes audio synchronization software, valued at $199.
