Around 26,400 attendees at April’s NAB Show were international, according to the event organisers, with over 164 different countries being represented.
The world's largest electronic media show covering the creation, management and delivery of content across all platforms featured 1,789 different companies.
Floor space was boosted this year to one million square feet to cater for the growing number of attendees.
“Hitting the one million mark on exhibit floor space is a testament to NAB Show’s continued relevance in an age of rapid advances in technology and change for media and entertainment,” commented NAB Executive VP of Conventions and Business Operations Chris Brown.
He added: “Our growth is reflective of NAB Show's ability to adapt and deliver fresh perspectives on the industry's most innovative companies and cutting-edge technologies.”
As with every year Prokit was at the event in Las Vegas and have selected a handful of novel lighting products that we think could be worth looking into for 2015.
New lighting products announced at NAB:
Zylight Newz is the next generation camera-top light with attributes not found on lights at twice the price. The Newz gives you the flexibility of fully dimmable, variable white colour temperatures from 3200-5600K.
The Zylight Newz can be powered by both a Worldwide AC power adapter or standard 7.2V or 14.4V camera batteries for complete portability.
BBS Pipeline LED Kit has been created to address the challenges of traveling correspondents who often deliver their reports via Skype or Messenger from a webcam on a desktop.
The remote phosphor LED fixtures in the Reporter Kits deliver model lighting with a high CRI, to an on-camera reporter under a wide range of ambient lighting conditions.
Litepanels' Caliber 3-Light Kit is a portable, out-of-the-box lighting solution ideal for webcasting, blogging and professional content creators. The kit enables easy travel and fast setup and is a true Fresnel fixture with wide focus range that can be powered via AC or with AA batteries.
Each fixture offers focusable output comparable to 150W tungsten yet requires only 17W to power it. The fixture’s compact size and high intensity output make it a valuable production tool in the field.
The new RingMAXX 48" ring light by Chimera blend together the directional quality of a standard ring flash with the soft quality of a large light source. RingMAXX has mounts for four lights allowing users to alter the power settings to lighten or deepen shadows to suit their vision. The lights are mounted inside four independent and controllable chambers for even more precise control.
The ARRI SkyPanel is a versatile LED soft light – compact, fully tuneable and delivering light of excellent power and quality.
Because different application areas call for different lighting needs, SkyPanel has been designed as a series of fixtures. The S60 is the mid-range model and the S30 is the smaller, more portable version.
